Questions about Vitoria, Spain
Arrival and departure transfer service from Bilbao airport, Biarritz airport, Vitoria airport, Vitoria bus station or train station is provided upon request.
A representative from Zador will pick players up and bring them directly to their place of accommodation or the Basketball Camp Facilities, depending on the arrival time.
The nearest airport with international flights is Vitoria (VIT), approx. 15-20 minutes from Vitoria by car. There are flights with Ryainair from Milan-Bergamo and Köln (CGN) (Germany.)
The nearest airport with more international flights is Bilbao (Loiu), approx. 60-70 minutes from Vitoria by car. There are public transport from Vitoria to Bilbao city centre almost every hour.

If you do not want to rent a car, you can take a taxi to Termibus Bus station in Bilbao city center, and then take a coach of LA UNION to Vitoria. Buses run every hour from Termibus Bus Station to Vitoria.
If you arrive to Madrid or Barcelona another option is to take a train. You can check times, frequency and prices on www.renfe.es

For Spain, we can say that Vitoria is a medium size city. It has around 250.000 inhabitants.
Temperatures are moderate and usually there is no rain. The average temperature in July is 19°C; the average of the maximum temperature is 27ºC and the average of the minimum, 11ºC.
With these temperatures it is always recommendable to take a jacket or a thin pullover in the evening, just because it can get cooler from 8 or 9 pm. This also happens in the early morning, but at noon, you will need to take the pullover out since it will be hot.
As in all cities, Vitoria offers different possibility for visitors’ comfort: from hotels to rural houses, apartments… There are 4* and 5* star hotels, such as the Gran Hotel Lakua (5 stars) or the hotels Gasteiz, Canciller Ayala, or Ciudad de Vitoria (4 stars). Another of the important hotels in Vitoria is the General Álava Hotel (3*). The offer is completed with smaller hotels such as Almoneda, Páramo, or Dato and apartments such as San Fermín or Dream Park. As you may imagine, prices go from 40 to 130 or more Euros.

Information for parents
Spanish language & Basketball Camp is the result of a partnership between ZadorSpain Spanish language Schools and Baskonia Basketball and Sport Foundation.
ZadorSpain, operating in Vitoria since 1990 and in Alicante since 2004, organizes study abroad programs for foreigners looking for learning and improving their Spanish language skills and having a rewarding language immersion program in Spain.
Baskonia Basketball Club has a long history, reaching this year its 58th Anniversary. Baskonia, through its Basketball Academy, has been organizing Summer Basketball Camps for more than 30 years and Basketball Tech Camp in the last 16 years.

You can enrol your child on-line. If you have any kind of problem filling the form, please contact us. You have to fill in all the information.
Player has to bring to the camp and give (inside an enveloppe with Name and Surname on the cover) at the checking point the following documents:
- Health Statement
- Parental Permission filled and signed
- A photo -passport size- with name and surname on the back.
- Medication if needed inside a plastic bag with a label with player's name and surname to bring with you and to give the staff when arrival.
Absolutely! Your child's safety is our first priority. Premises for the Summer Basketball Camp are in the suburbs of the city in a very quiet and safe area.
If Basketball Camp participants have residence accommodation, are highly supervised. Only during their free time (and they do not have a lot) or during the time to rest they could be in the common areas without camp counselors, although they are in the building.
Teens have to participate in all the scheduled on-campus and off-campus activities and in all the activities are adults with them.
Campers can not go out from the camp facilities alone.
Baskonia Basketball Club is a Sport Club with a long history: 2009 was the year of the 50th Anniversary of the Club!!!
The institution have gained special reputation among the Basketball Clubs in Spain and in Europe, thanks its professional organization and thanks the triumphs of TAU Baskonia Basketball Team, Baskonia Vitoria, being considered as one of the best teams in Europe.
Baskonia Club supports a Basketball Academy for children and teens for more than 40 years, organizing camps in summer time for all levels.
16 years ago Baskonia started to organize a specific Development Basketball Camp for intermediate and advanced youth basketball players: Well qualified trainers, professional basketball coaches with experienced assistants, trainers who understand individual capacity of the youngsters joining the camp and work with them to gain knowledge regarding basketball, team work, language and education.
For parents who want to visit Spain while their children are in the summer camp, we can suggest different hotels, apartments and activities or we can arrange necessary lodging and activities for them to enjoy their stay for a fee. However parents can watch Basketball training sessions.
If you want to come with your children and if you are interested in languages, you can have a Spanish Course in the morning and enjoy your holidays in Vitoria and the Basque Country. Please feel free to enquire for further information.

2 pairs of basketball shoes (new shoes are not a good idea; you will get blisters and not be able to train)
1 sweatshirt or 1 tracksuit
Ankle, knee and wrist supports or any other protective gear Protective tape for strapping body parts (i.e. fingers) Compeed Blisters

Daily Clothes: casual clothing
Shorts, trousers, T‐Shirts
1 fleece jacket or sweat shirt Plenty of socks and underwear Pyjamas / sleepwear 2-3 swimsuits, swim cap, sun hat Shoes or sandals plus flip-flops for the shower/swimming pool Sunglasses and sun protection appropriate for skin type with high protection factor (30 ‐ 50 factor) Insect repellent Towels for the swimming pool (3 medium-size towels). It is compulsory to bring at least one towel because the room towels cannot be taken out of the apartment. For missing towels in the apartment, there is a €25 fee
. * Electricity supply in Spain is AC 220 Volts, 50 Hertz. Sockets meet European regulations and use the round pin system. Bring adaptors and make sure that the electrical appliances you are going to use (computer, mobile phone charger, shavers, fun…) work at this voltage.
* Put your child's name or initials on everything —clothes, hat, swim suit, towels— with either a laundry marker or iron- or sew-on labels.
* Laundry bag for wet or dirty clothing with your child's name

— Medication if needed. Send medication in its original container, along with explicit dosage instructions to the camp nurse or healthcare facility. A signed medical-release form should accompany all prescription medication (in English or Spanish).
— Parental Permission form.
— Please be sure to bring a health statement to camp with you which has been signed by a physician and dated within 12 months of the first day of camp indicating your son or daughter is in good physical condition to play basketball.
* If camper has glasses or contact lents, bring 2 glasses and contact lens cleaner.
Other items
Back Pack or something similar for off-campus activities and excursions.
Mobile phone (and charger)
Could be a good idea to download and print the items to bring tho the Basketball Camp and check them because probably we forgot something that your child consider important.
Please, do not bring unnecessary and/or valuable articles, such as expensive computer, watches, radios, rings or other jewels, etc. We cannot be liable for damage or loss.
